Other People's Blogs

Today I want to share a couple of blogs AND get you to go vote!

If you go to www.rubbermaid.blogspot.com --that's my friend Pat (and Leah's cousin) who's a fantastic stamper and cardmaker. She teaches classes and if we can ever lure her into visiting Leah, we'll be sure to sign her up to teach a class here!

You can see some of her work here on her blog.

Pat's daughter Julie is also a stamper and guess what???? She's actually in the running to be Papercraft Magazine's Gallery Idol!! The voting might be starting tomorrow (that's Wednesday) so hurry and go here to vote for "outotimpress". That's Julie. Her blog is at http://outtoimpress.blogspot.com/ .

Both of these ladies make BEAUTIFUL cards. Be sure to check them out.

Pat is telling me I need more photos on here. She's right. I do. It's the time factor.

How about everyone send me a photo of their favourite layout and I'll post them?

Any takers?

(See you Wednesday night and get over to Paper Crafts and vote!)

Anyone Need Prints?

Hey there...

I just got an email that Rexall has photo prints on for 18 cents each. They do a pretty good job with their pictures so I'd recommend them. Also, they're pretty fast --within a few days--and your pictures come right to the pharmacy in Thessalon.

Of course, it's faster if you're right at a store in the Sault but overall I think there's something to be said for taking your time at home, picking out what you want, being a little prepared so that you order them before you need them for a scrapbooking night and then getting nice pictures that you're happy with.

To order, go to www.rexall.ca and click on photo centre. Rexall stores include Guardian, Pharma Plus and IDA so maybe there's one near you--if you're not in Thessalon.

Check it out. Or tell us where you get your prints and why!

Now, back to camping for me. What are YOU doing that you might want to scrapbook later?

Did YOU post?

Remember that post seeking comments? The one titled "Pizza Crop Cancelled"?

Scrapbook Room Anniversary is July 11th!

That's right!

The official celebration is next Friday even though I actually opened in June 2003.

Please join me for cake and coffee from 11 to 3.

Also, a good old Pizza Crop at original prices ($5.00 includes pizza) will be held that night beginning at 6 and running for an hour longer than usual--till 1 am. You MUST preregister for this event! Please leave your name at the shop, in the comments here or email me!

I will have a little door prize and lots of sale and clearance items so please do stop in.

Remember...you can always shop Friday evening as well (and cake will still be available provided we didn't eat it all during the day!)

Please join me in celebrating!

Pizza Crop Cancelled...

due to lack of signups.

Please remember...if you ARE interested in attending these nights, you MUST register.

There will NOT be a July Pizza Crop but there may be a "No Frills"  Crop Night one night in July. Watch for it!

Also, upcoming...a little scrapbook room 5th anniversary party!

Have you ever made a frame around a picture simply by distressing it?

So easy and looks so cool...use a nail file, emery board, piece of sandpaper, drywall sanding block or any similar product. I like to place photo edge right at edge of table and run the emery board down the edge until I get the look I like. This works really well if your photo has a dark background and your background paper is dark. The sanding/filing will give you a whitened edge without using a mat.

Want to distress even more? Try sanding all around the photo background except for the subject. Gives a cool effect. Just remember, you might also want to use distressed style papers (or distress them yourself) for this look. Basic Grey, Wild Asparagus, some Bo Bunny papers (all at The Scrapbook Room) are among many that have this style of paper. Also, pick up a sheet or two of Coredinations cardstock (at The Scrapbook Room) and try distressing it. This paper has a lighter coloured core and is excellent for sanding and distressing! There's a neat layout in the new Scrapbooks and Cards Today magazine that sanded on circles for round distressed spots on the paper.

Try this...so cool.

And what's YOUR favourite technique? Tell all!

I've got a little pack of Basic Grey rubons for one of you who posts a comment on THIS post.

See you soon....

And so...

....here I am sitting in a tent in Toronto. It's kind of cold if that makes anyone feel better.

Graduation was great--Courtney received the Board of Governor's Achievement Award...so that's pretty amazing! She also has her scrapbook and I think she loves it. I just need to finish it now---hey, I did to Grade 8 in like a week so that's pretty good!

Court_award

And so...today we are off on the subway to downtown...a stop at the model agency where Courtney will start work soon....then hanging/bumming/looking/dragging my feet around! But a busy day...

...We will be heading home in the next day or two....nothing new for scrapbooking but we'll get some goods going soon.

...next Friday, June 27th is the Monthly Pizza Crop. Please don't forget to sign up. It's harder to get a group in the summer so the crop will be cancelled if no one signs up!

That's all for now...I'm drinking coffee here, looking out at the Humber River and getting ready for the day.

Hope YOURS is good!

See you soon!
